No More New Year, New Me The real reason you can not stick to your losing weight resolution:

January 29, 2018

According to research the most 2 common New Year Resolutions are: lose weight/ healthier eating, and life/self -improvements. However, only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolution by year end.

If your resolution is losing weight and eating healthier this year, I am going to share the secret to how stick to your resolution and be among those 8% who achieve their goals.

Our bodies are designed with innate healing abilities. Our bodies want to be healthier and to heal, given that we provide them the right environment for this. What is the right environment you ask? The right environment for your body is when you have a balanced nervous system; this means a balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.

Your sympathetic is the gas pedal, it’s responsible for “fight or flight” responses, stress responses, and protection and survival. The parasympathetic is the brake pedal, it’s responsible for rest and relaxation, growth and development, digestion and immune function.

One of the main hormones that your sympathetic system releases is cortisol. Cortisol is the stress hormone. This is the hormone that tells you, you are hungry and is responsible for storing belly fat. Another important hormone that we need to talk about is Leptin. Leptin is the hormone inside the stomach that tells the brain when to stop eating. When leptin level is too high and is over-produced, your brain will become desensitized to the effects of it. This creates the condition where people try to eat less and even work out but still can’t lose weight, specially their belly fat. A lot of times the underlying reason is this hormonal imbalance.

What is the solution?

Restoring health does not just happen with a short-term diet or workout. It is a consistent way of living to ensure your body is functioning the way it is naturally designed to.

How can chiropractic help?

Chiropractic care is includes detecting and analysing physical interferences to the nervous system and removing those interferences through a comprehensive treatment plan to help you restore normal joint movement, balancing your muscles, and impairing healthy neurological function.I
